# How do you get people to click on your portfolio?

> I wanted a reason for people to visit my site. So I made something about them: a card for their GitHub year.

I was thinking about what happens if I share my portfolio on X. Most people won't click. Why would they? It's a site about me.

So I flipped it. What if the link was about them?

That turned into [Touch grass](https://savi.fyi/grass). You type your GitHub username and it counts the days you didn't commit this year. Then it deals you a card. There are eight, all with a little Silicon Valley (the show) in them: Stealth Startup, Three Comma Club, Middle-Out, and The Visionary for anyone with zero commits.

![My Stealth Startup card: a padlock in blue dots, 152 days of grass, and the line "Went dark for 35 days. Erlich would call it stealth mode."](https://savi.fyi/notes/touch-grass/card.jpg)
*Mine. 152 days of grass.*

Every number on it is real, pulled from your public GitHub calendar. Only the jokes are written ahead of time. Flip the card over and the back shows your numbers and why you got that one.

*The back. Mine says I went quiet for a month.*

It started as a fun way to get people onto my site. Then it kept getting better the more we played with it.

*The whole set. Which one are you?*

I might not share it on X. Maybe I never will. I'm really glad I made it anyway.
